“The Macroeconomic Effects of Increasing Economic Uncertainty” discussed in EMU

Eastern Mediterranean University Economic Research Center (EMU ERC) and EMU Faculty of Business and Economics, Department of Economics organized a seminar titled “The Macroeconomic Effects of Increasing Economic Uncertainty”. The opening speech of the seminar was delivered by the Chair of EMU Economics Department and member of ERC, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Balcılar. Prof. Dr. Balcılar then introduced Prof. Dr. Engin Kara from the Cardiff University. After receiving his PhD in Economics from York University in UK, he worked as a researcher in various institutions before Cardiff University, most notably at Bristol University, Exeter University and the Central Bank of Belgium. In addition to his academic position, he currently works as a consultant at the IMF.


Prof. Dr. Engin Kara's research mainly focuses firm pricing behaviour, inflation, macroeconomic uncertainty and fiscal policy. His work within these fields is widely recognized and he has published in top academic journals such as the journal of Monetary Economics and the journal of Money, Credit and Banking. Our students from the Facult of Business and Economics showed avid interest in the seminar and filled out the seminar room, actively participated and asked tough questions.
